UL 9540A: A Critical Assessment of Thermal Runaway Propagation Prevention

The UL 9540A standard defines test methods for evaluating fire and thermal runaway propagation risks in battery energy storage systems (BESS).

At the system level, the test assesses whether flames and heat generated by thermal runaway in a single energy storage unit could spread to adjacent systems or impact surrounding building structures.

Successfully passing this test demonstrates that the CM2 series meets international leading standards in system-level thermal runaway protection, structural design, and overall safety performance, ensuring effective mitigation of fire propagation risks in real-world C&I applications.
