SAJ & Chloride Exide Host Energy Storage Training in Kenya

06 Oct 2026, 06:15:48

Last Friday, SAJ, in partnership with Chloride Exide, successfully hosted the SAJ PV + ESS Solution Training at the Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi Airport, bringing together local solar and energy professionals for a full day of technical training, product knowledge sharing and practical discussions on photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions.

The session provided participants with a detailed introduction to the CHS2 system architecture, key functions and typical application scenarios. More importantly, the programme went beyond a standard product introduction with a dedicated technical session on CHS2 installation and commissioning.

Participants explored practical considerations involved in deploying an all-in-one battery energy storage system, helping installers and energy professionals better understand the complete process from system planning and installation to commissioning and operation.

For businesses in Kenya, reliable electricity is directly linked to operational continuity. Energy storage can play an important role in applications such as manufacturing facilities, farms, hotels, commercial buildings and other businesses where power interruptions or unstable electricity supply can affect daily operations.

SAJ has already seen growing adoption of C&I energy storage solutions across Kenya, including applications in agriculture, hospitality and other commercial sectors. By combining technology with local technical training, SAJ aims to make advanced energy storage solutions easier for partners and installers to deploy successfully.

Introducing the CHS3 125kW/261kWh ESS Solution

The afternoon programme expanded the discussion to larger C&I applications with an introduction to the SAJ CHS3 125kW/261kWh energy storage solution.

Designed to address the energy requirements of larger commercial and industrial projects, CHS3 provides another option for businesses looking to integrate solar generation, battery storage and intelligent energy management.

During the session, participants gained a better understanding of where larger C&I energy storage systems can be applied and how scalable battery storage solutions can help businesses improve energy resilience, increase the utilisation of solar energy and optimise their overall energy strategy.

The introduction of CHS3 also reflects SAJ’s continued expansion of its C&I energy storage portfolio in Africa, supporting projects ranging from relatively small commercial sites to larger industrial energy applications.

Extending Energy Storage to Residential Applications

While C&I energy storage formed an important part of the training, the programme also addressed the residential market.

SAJ presented its H2 + B3 low-voltage residential energy storage solution, providing participants with an overview of how integrated solar and battery storage can support households and smaller energy users.

The residential session covered the solution architecture and applications of H2 + B3, giving installers a broader understanding of SAJ’s portfolio and enabling them to serve different customer segments with solutions ranging from residential systems to larger C&I BESS projects.

From Product Knowledge to Practical Installation Skills

One of the key objectives of the SAJ PV + ESS Solution Training was to connect product knowledge with practical implementation.

The programme therefore combined technical presentations with installation and commissioning guidance, Q&A sessions and direct discussions between SAJ, Chloride Exide and participating energy professionals.

Throughout the day, participants had opportunities to raise questions based on their own project and installation experience and discuss the practical challenges encountered in the local market.

This exchange of knowledge is particularly valuable as battery energy storage becomes an increasingly important part of solar projects. Selecting the right equipment is only one part of delivering a successful system; correct system design, installation, commissioning and ongoing operation are equally important to achieving reliable long-term performance.

The Nairobi training represents more than a single product event. It is part of SAJ’s broader commitment to developing a stronger ecosystem of distributors, installers, EPCs and technical professionals across Africa.

For SAJ, expanding access to energy storage technology needs to go hand in hand with developing local technical capability.

Through cooperation with partners such as Chloride Exide, SAJ aims to provide local professionals with the product knowledge and practical expertise required to confidently design, install and support modern solar and battery energy storage systems.

The training concluded with an open Q&A and networking session, giving participants another opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss potential applications of SAJ solutions in the Kenyan market.

SAJ would like to thank Chloride Exide for its partnership and everyone who participated in the training.

As Kenya’s solar and energy storage market continues to develop, SAJ will continue working closely with local partners to deliver not only innovative products, but also the technical training, project support and local expertise needed to turn energy storage technology into reliable real-world solutions.
